ok ,so i got a piccolo snare recently, souns good, but theres no damper on it, so i cant get that kid of "ring" off it. its anoying the hell out of me, any ideas? is it just too tight?

Smear the skin with runny excrement....that way it will look cool when you hit it........

What I usually do it get some bog roll.. roll it up and flatten it a bit then tape it across the snare bar.. or if you still want a really rattly sound from the snare, ball a little electric tapt up and tape it on the edge of your snare, so it's touching the rim but still on the skin... failing that get an O ring from pools.. You could tape a couple of the wire thigns down on the bottom with tape.

ed, why did you get a piccolo if you dont like they're sound? they are supposed to have that 'ring' which makes them a piccolo...

no they're not, stoopid... I can make a deep snare have a ring to it.. picollo's are made to make the snap sound more hi pitch and shorter... deeper drums have more resonence.. picollo's really should be used as accent snares but they sound good enough as a main snare.. if I had the money I'd have one me sen or maybe an arbiter..
